Audrey Lorraine Brase, 88, of Owatonna, died Saturday, April 27, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 28, 1930 in Lyle, Minnesota the daughter of Ben and Elva (Meyer) Hustad. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1948. Audrey was united in marriage to Reuben Carl Brase at Associated Church in 1951. Audrey worked with her husband operating Riverside TV and Appliance from 1947 until 1980. She obtained her Broker’s license and enjoyed several successful years in real estate.
In the early years Audrey and Reuben camped with their children in Minnesota state parks. They were also world-wide travelers. They entertained family and friends at their lake home on Cedar Lake. In the mid-1970s Audrey and Reuben purchased a condominium in Manzanillo, Mexico where they enjoyed nearly four decades of pleasant winters with friends.
Audrey enjoyed bridge, cooking, entertaining, reading mystery novels and was a faithful follower of the Minnesota Twins. She was a charter member of the Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary and a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harvey L. Hustad of Evanston, Illinois; and Stanley Hustad of Mesa, Arizona; husband, Reuben and son Terrance. Audrey is survived by son, Douglas (CJ) Brase, Owatonna and four daughters: Laurie Brase, Eden Prairie; Patti Brase, Minneapolis; Joan (Daniel) Kaselau, New Richmond, Wisconsin; and Debra (Kasey) Kamholz, Owatonna; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Arvid (Luella) Hustad, Owatonna; and sister-in-law Natalie Brase, Meriden.
A Celebration of her Life will be held Sunday, June 2nd at Brick-Meger Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3pm-5pm followed by a time of sharing and an Eastern Star Memorial service. A private family internment will be held at Owatonna Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Arts Center, P.O. Box 134, Owatonna, MN 55060.
