Obituary

Eileen Rose Stibal, 97, of Owatonna, died November 2, 2019 at Homestead Hospice House. 

She was born December 6, 1921 in St. Joseph, MN, the daughter of Matt and Mathilda Hardwig. Eileen attended the College of St. Benedict and then worked for the Northern States Power Company in St. Cloud, MN. She married Edwin Stibal in 1943 and they moved to Alameda, CA where Edwin was a High School teacher. They returned to MN in 1946. The Stibal family moved to Owatonna in 1950 where they raised four children. In 1952 Eileen began a 32 year career at Wenger Corporation where she served as secretary to the founder of the company, Harry Wenger. 

In her years in Owatonna, Eileen enjoyed many hobbies. She was especially fond of creating water color paintings. She was an avid reader her entire life, reading several books a week well into her 90’s. She met many close friends through her enjoyment of playing Bridge. Eileen also loved to garden and crochet.

She is survived by her brother, Paul Hardwig, Homer, Alaska; three of her four children, Mary (Jerry) Carstensen, Owatonna, Bonnie (Danny) Kincaid, Hellertown, PA, Ken (Kelly) Stibal, Apple Valley, CA, seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 1991 and her youngest daughter, Michelle, in 2011.  Funeral Service will be held at Brick-Meger Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 6th at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospitality House of Owatonna, Owatonna Foundation or to the donor’s choice.
