Paul was born March 18, 1930 in Fairfield Township, Iowa. He spent many years farming in the Mower County area. He mainly farmed crops but also raised some cattle and hogs. He custom farmed for many neighbors and other people in the surrounding area. Paul and his wife, Barb, were owners of the Viking House in Hayfield, Minnesota for many years. Paul took great pride in keeping the gravel roads of Westfield Township perfectly groomed which was appreciated by everyone. After retiring from farming, Paul and Barb moved to Owatonna where they began working for Life Style, Inc. as onsite property managers up until last year. Paul also owned and operated a successful lawn service and snow removal business. Paul was an extremely hard worker, but when it came to family and friends, he loved to crack jokes and make people laugh. He loved giving people a hard time. A master of modification, Paul was a wizard at any repair, stretching a dollar, striking a deal, and in general making things work with whatever resources he had. Attention to detail and customer service were hallmarks to Paul. He was a gentle, loving and generous man. His caring nature was obvious when a stray kitten appeared in his shed a few years ago. Goldie quickly became his “little buddy” and followed him everywhere.
