Robert “Bob” V. Meier

July 24, 2018

Robert (Bob) V. Meier of Owatonna passed away suddenly on July 24, 2018 at his home from natural causes. A memorial service is set for Friday, July 27th at 1:00 pm at the Brick Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna).  Friends may greet the family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  A rosary will be recited at 11:00 am.

Bob was born on April 9, 1951 in Carroll, Iowa to Edward & Rita (Williams) Meier.  The family then moved to Minnesota.  Bob graduated from Marian High School in 1969. He was a member of the Army National Guard and was Honorably Discharged in 1975.  In Owatonna, he worked for Truth Hardware and also owned and operated Mike's Bar.  He then moved to Menomonie, WI where he worked for MRM Elgin and then Heat-N-Glow in Lake City.  In 1997, he moved to Vicksburg, MS and then returned to Owatonna in 2002.  Throughout his career, he had many accomplishments. Bob was totally proud of his two children and the lives they had, but he was the happiest when he and Rose were able to spend time with his four grand kids.  He loved to go and watch them participate in all their activities.  He would always have a story to share about them and how fast they were growing.  Bob “The Brain” (as he liked to refer to himself) will be remembered lovingly for the gentle man he had come to be.

Bob is survived by his daughter Shanda Meier (Kevin Ingvaldson) and their children Cooper and Keyera; his son Shane (Erica) Meier and their children Auriana and Rhia; and his fiance Rose Marie Myers.  His siblings include:  LeRoy (Dorothy) Meier, Mary Ann (Jerry) Rysavy, Arlene (LaVern) Soukup, Alice Dulitz, Kathy Meier and Karen Meier.   Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Rich Dulitz, nephew Douglas Rysavy and many uncles and aunts.
