Ronald (Ron) Hrdlichka passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, September 12th, 2019 at the Owatonna Hospital after a battle with brain cancer.
Ron was born on May 11, 1936 to Albert and Martha Hrdlichka. Ron grew up on the farm and attended Country School District 87. Ron married Audrey (Schrom) on July 18, 1957. Ron worked at Casey & Jacobson building contractors before his 26 year career at OTC/SPX. During his retirement, Ron worked part-time at Innovative Seed and Consulting. Ron loved to play and coach softball with his sons. He was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings' fan and also loved watching Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Gopher Hockey. Ron enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Cedar Lake in Faribault; taking annual fishing trips to Lake Winnibigoshish; going to the races; gardening; landscaping and any other projects he could do with his hands.
Ron is survived by his wife Audrey. Sons Bob (Shelley), Brian (Kate), Doug (Toni) and Randy. Grandchildren Jeffrey (Claire), Justin, Taylor (Andrew) Herdman, Samantha, Brooke and Jamee. Great grandchildren Mae and Eli. Sisters Janice (Richard) Koss and Marilyn (Andy) Gasner as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond, and infant sister and brother Arlene and James.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minnesota on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
