Jeanne Catherine Jensen, age 81, of Owatonna, MN, died Friday, April 10, 2020 at Timberdale Trace Assisted Living.
Jeanne was born on October 6, 1938 in Stacyville, Iowa to Bernard and Elizabeth Purcell. She graduated from Saint Augustine High School in Austin, Minnesota in 1956. Following graduation she married Alfred “Al” Jens Jensen on February 2, 1957 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. The couple moved to Owatonna in 1960. They were blessed with four children.
Jeanne was a loving wife, caring mother to her children, and homemaker. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, and camping. She enjoyed traveling to many states including Alaska and Hawaii. She loved being a snowbird spending winters in Harlingen, Texas for 18 years with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Al; her children; Mike (Mary) Jensen of Owatonna; Pat (Brian) Bentley of Owatonna; Cheryl Spatenka of Wabasha; Tim (Nancy) Jensen of Buffalo; her grandchildren: Matt (Sadie) Jensen, Josh Jensen, Jenny (Abdeslam) Mazouz, Megan (Rob) McNabb, Sara (Ivan) Pandiyan, Kory Spatenka, Amy (Jon) Zitur, Cassie Jensen, Shannon Jensen, and Nick Jensen; her great grandchildren: Olivia Pandiyan, Julia Pandiyan, Nora Mazouz, Adam Mazouz, Lucas McNabb, Dawson Zitur, and Ayla Zitur; and brothers, Don (Lois) Purcell and Tom Purcell. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
A private Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna, MN followed by a private family burial at Medford Resurrection Cemetery in Medford, MN. Memorials are preferred to CurePSP for Corticobasal Degeneration research or to the donor’s choice.
